SUP - the ZRE carbon paddles
are a legend in their own lifetime.
Here's the feedback from someone
who got their hands on an early
demo paddle.

'Just spent 2 days testing my new ZRE paddle, it is simply AWESOME. It's by far the lightest paddle I have used, so clean on entry and exit that it definately increases board speed - I am guessing its because its so good through the water with little or no energy wasted in the stroke. In my day job I am super lucky enough to get the chance to test some of the newest innovations on the best bikes and skis in the market, always looking for improvements through subtle design and construction changes. I never thought I would test a paddle that is such a massive improvement over what are some great paddles out there. Its so light and gets right under the hull of the board due to its blade shape. I'm not on any comission (although I could happily sell these all day long) - I'm just a raving fan wanting to let fellow SUPers know about such a great product, it's really that good!'

ZRE - Outrigging paddles
Similar to the SUP paddles but shorter
and usually with a wider blade - used
from OC6 (six man) canoes down to the 1
man canoes

The super light weight of the paddle means you hardly notice it is there - even during a 2+ hour race. The PowerSurge blade feels very quick into the catch, a bit like your fingers when swimming - it just cuts effortlessly into the water.

some training for the gruelling Yukon
River Quest - that'll be just 740km then!

“Thanks for getting the paddles over to us - they’re awesome, so light, will be in touch if we need anything further”

Paddlers for Life -
getting some coaching using the
Excalibur data aquisition paddle
from Merlin (available to hire in the UK)

Once again, Paddlers for Life find themselves hugely privileged to be presented with yet another unique opportunity. They just keep on appearing!
It gives Paddlers for Life immense pleasure to acknowledge the tireless and generous efforts of Dr Helen Crank and Heather Driscoll, Sheffield Hallam University,in progressing our pre-season training both individually and as a team.
The story begins when Helen can hardly believe her good fortune to hear that Sports Engineer and colleague, Heather, was involved in the technical design of an Australian data acquisition dragon boat paddle, the Excalibur by Merlin. Heather was able to secure the loan of the Merlin Excalibur Paddle from the distributors, Stylo Sports (
www.stylosports.com) who are about to make the tool available for hire in the UK.
A weekend training camp on the River Wear, Durham (a big thank you to the 3 River Serpents) was arranged. It was timely for Heather to join us in Durham...multi-tasking as the courier, demonstrator, data analyst and co-paddler to name but a few roles she so willingly took on!
There were mixed feelings of excitement and uncertainty among Paddlers for Life being the first crew here in the UK to try the paddle out. And check, of course, on training progress.
A great weekend was had by all!

“You guys are the best there is! We wouldn’t have won the Eco-challenge Adventure Racing World Championships without such incredibly light and strong canoe paddles!

Another happy canoe paddler emailed in to tell us:

“Just a bit of feedback, I used the new paddle at the weekend and found it AWESOME, so much so I could no change back to my old one. Thanks for your help and I’ll be in touch for future orders”
